Filmclub Manager is designed with privacy as a core principle. We have implemented a privacy-focused setup that minimizes data collection and maximizes your control over your personal information.

No Cookie Consent Required

Our website does not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies. We only use essential technical cookies required for authentication and session management. According to GDPR and ePrivacy regulations, these essential cookies do not require your explicit consent as they are strictly necessary for the service to function.

No Third-Party Tracking

We do not use invasive tracking technologies such as Amplitude, Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or similar user behavior tracking tools. Any platform-level tracking that may be injected by our hosting provider is actively blocked on the client side to protect your privacy.

Privacy-Focused Analytics

We use Umami and Plausible for basic website analytics. These are privacy-focused analytics tools that do not use cookies, do not collect personal data, do not track users across websites, and are fully GDPR-compliant without requiring consent. They only collect aggregate, anonymized data such as page views and referrer information.

Data Collection

When you use our service, we collect the following data:

  • Account Data: Name, email address (via Manus OAuth)
  • Usage Data: Films marked as seen, club memberships, screening participation
  • Technical Data: IP address, browser type, access times (server logs)
  • Preferences: Language settings, view preferences (stored locally in your browser)
Browser Storage

We store the following data locally in your browser (localStorage) to improve your experience. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers:

  • Language preference (i18nextLng)
  • View mode and filter preferences for the films page
Legal Basis

Data processing is based on Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR (contract fulfillment) for account data and service functionality, and Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR (legitimate interests) for security and service improvement.

  • Manus Platform: Server infrastructure, authentication, and data storage (hosting provider)
  • The Movie Database (TMDb): Film metadata and poster images (API calls made server-side, no personal data transmitted)

  • Plausible Analytics: Privacy-focused website analytics (no cookies, no personal data, GDPR-compliant)
Data Retention

We store your data as long as your account is active. After account deletion, your data will be deleted within 30 days, unless legal retention obligations apply.
